Csikszentmihalyi

“A leader will find it difficult to articulate a coherent vision unless it expresses his core values, his basic identity…one must first embark on the formidable journey of self-discovery in order to create a vision with authentic soul.”

So said Professor Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the prolific Hungarian-American psychologist who, among other things, recognized and named the psychological concept of “flow”.

Many of my coaching clients, as well as other founders and senior execs come to me asking about how to become a better leader. Increasingly my answer involves values – recognizing and leaning into the values you hold important, in order to become a stronger, truer leader.

Clearly important for first time founders and evolving leaders, I think it’s also important for us “civilians” as well. You don’t need to be a start-up founder or a CxO to explore and understand your own set of values and how they drive your emotions, thoughts and decisions.

That’s’ why I’m putting together a new course on values and decision making. It will launch first as a workshop (with both in-person or remote versions available) and then as an online course.

If you’re interested in finding out more about my course for you, your team or your company, just message me here on LinkedIn.

And no, I don’t know how to pronounce his name either – but you can learn more about flow, the Professor, his fascinating body of work and how to pronounce his name here: https://lnkd.in/gCeMYGKa
